Renewable Energy

The key aim of our coatings for Renewable Energy Sector allows components to be refurbished and reclaimed reducing landfill waste and minimising environmental impact. Working alongside your business we can help you in your mission to save our planet. We offer a wide variety of thermal spray coatings (TSC) to guard against hostile environments including heat, chemicals, corrosion or erosion; our coatings can vastly improve component longevity. Utilised on a lower cost base material this means thermal spray coating is also a much more economical solution.

Hydropower Plants

Silt, sand and gravel erosion & corrosion within hydropower plants can significantly decrease turbine efficiency. TSC applied to Francis, Kaplan or Pelton Turbines provide a barrier to slurry erosion increasing component lifespan and minimising component lifespan as well as minimising maintenance downtime. Coating properties can be adapted to protect against the chemical constituents and physical properties of the water at the turbine location.

Biomass Incinerators

TSC has proven benefits for components exposed to steam and acidic gases, preventing corrosion of vital parts within the piping and pressure vessels. Chromium coatings are most beneficial to resist sulfidic corrosion whilst Nickel-Chromium coatings deposited by HVOF provide great barriers against corrosion & erosion. Corrosion resistant components allow plants to burn at higher temperatures increasing efficiency.

Wind Turbines

Wind turbines are exposed to a variety of corrosive elements due to their location. Thermal Spray Coating provides a much more resilient coating than painting alone against the effects of salt water, wind, acidic rain and wave erosion.

As well as HVOF we are able to offer wire spray or plasma coatings on all of the above components.
