To minimize this an oxidation / corrosion resistant coating was applied to enhance the performance of the Structural Carrier. The Structural carrier consist of two halves (from F-class Turbine with gross GT power output over 300 MW). Each Half of the Carrier weight 5 tons , which was very challenging for handling and cleaning/coating job.
As received the Surface of the Structural Carrier had heavy traces of oxidation Which was removed by High pressure steam cleaning.
The Critical areas were protected by masking. And the required coating areas were grit blasted, after which the H.V.O.F Coating was carried out using OEM specified coating powder.
ASCO successfully complete the job in very short turnaround time during power plant outage period, i.e., in 5 x days with work proceeding fully during day & night shift.
Asco carried out the work directly for OEM and successfully qualified the blasting and coating process as per strict OEM specifications prior to arrival of the Turbine Structural Carrier.
